Overview

The Learning and Technology World Forum is an internationally recognised leadership forum for sharing best practice and debating future practice in education and skills.  It is now seen as the premier international event on learning technologies.

It is one of the largest gatherings of education and skills ministers in the world.  It is also the only forum that brings together national leaders to share their ideas and experiences on strategy and policy; considering ways that technology can be used to support and improve the accessibility and quality of education and skills globally.

The forum is led by Becta (the government's lead agency on supportive technology in education and skills) in association with the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA).  It is hosted by the Department of Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and it is fully supported by the British Council and a range of other partner organisations.

The Learning and Technology World Forum 2009, incorporating a private ministerial strand, 'Moving Young Minds', successfully brought together over 750 leaders from 70 countries; including more than 50 ministers of education and skills.  Over three quarters of the world's population were represented.

In 2010, the forum attracted over 1200 participants including 70 ministers of education and skills from more than 100 countries.  Over 80% of the world's population were represented at the event.
